A Cummins Turbo Diesel Homecoming: The 2011 TDR Rally.

In June, over 400 Cummins Turbo Diesel owners set out in their Ram trucks to Indiana, headed to the Columbus MidRange Engine Plant (CMEP), home of the Cummins Turbo Diesel. The Cummins enthusiasts are all members of Turbo Diesel Register (TDR), the only owners’ club, magazine and online publication dedicated solely to Cummins-powered Ram Heavy Duty trucks.

Together with TDR and Ram, Cummins hosted a fun-filled day for this group of loyal customers and enthusiasts. Attendees enjoyed an hour long tour of the plant where the Cummins Turbo Diesel is built, led by CMEP employees. Cummins engineers and service experts held product information sessions, which provided in-depth information about the Cummins Turbo Diesel.

In addition to the Cummins engine sessions, Ram executives and brand managers proudly presented their newest trucks, complete with walk around tours of the 2011 Ram Heavy Duty trucks. For a hands-on experience, Ram brought plenty of 2011 trucks for attendees to test drive. An intense course was designed to allow attendees to experience the 2011 Ram Heavy Duty truck’s capability and strength for themselves. And if that weren’t enough, there was a special surprise for TDR Rally attendees and CMEP employees during lunch. Raminator, Ram’s monster truck, provided jaw-dropping entertainment for the crowd, as its driver fired up the engine and crushed two cars.

As a salute to the longstanding partnership between Cummins and Chrysler, Troy Simonsen and John Keele, the pioneers of the Cummins/Chrysler partnership (both retired), led a history session on how the relationship between Cummins and Chrysler began.

Throughout the day, many attendees were already inquiring about the next rally. Cummins executives assured attendees that it won’t be another nine years, and that we look forward to doing this again in the next couple of years.
