Ram Chassis Cab Named 2011 Medium-Duty Truck Of The Year.

The Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cab was recently named Work Truck magazine’s 2011 Medium-Duty Truck of the Year. Professional fleet managers were asked to consider which medium-duty truck (out of 19 vehicles) best fit their fleet requirements. They judged the vehicles based on application effectiveness, durability, quality, servicing, maintenance, and lifecycle costs. The Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cab received the most votes and was selected as the clear winner.

The commercial-grade Cummins 6.7L Turbo Diesel is the exclusive engine offered in Ram 4500/5500 Chassis Cab trucks. It produces 305 hp (227 kW) at 2900 rpm, and
610 lb-ft (827 N•m) of torque at 1600 rpm, providing excellent pulling power.

Like other Cummins engines running in commercial vehicles all the way up to Class 8 trucks, the 6.7L Turbo Diesel’s in-line six-cylinder configuration results in fewer components than comparable heavy-duty V8 engines. With this in-line six-cylinder configuration, time spent on maintenance is kept to a minimum, with easy access to all service points. In addition, the Ram Chassis Cab uses the same Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system that Cummins currently offers for all other on-highway commercial applications. The Cummins SCR system is conveniently placed out of the way of upfit zones, saving time and money in the upfit process.
